Getting married at St Oswald’s

St Oswald’s is a beautiful church and a popular choice for Ashbourne couples who want to get married in church.

We are totally committed to marriage and will do all we can to prepare you, for not only the ‘big day’ but also for the years ahead. Naturally, as you’d expect, we believe marriage to be one of God’s best ideas! We believe it his best invention for those who choose to live in a permanent, loving relationship. As part of our commitment to help prepare you for marriage, we invite all couples getting married at St Oswald’s to participate in a marriage preparation course. This is run at various times through the year and is a great way of meeting other couples too. We also run ongoing marriage courses periodically for established married couples in the church and community who want to make a good marriage even better!

At St Oswald’s we love weddings and will do all we can to make your special day a memorable start to your new life together.

Who is eligible to marry in St Oswald’s

One of the couple must be a permanent resident in the parish of Ashbourne; unless one or both of you are worshipping member(s) of St Oswald’s and on the electoral role.

Should one or both of you have been divorced, and then you will need to discuss this with the vicar. There are no hard and fast rules and each couple is given individual consideration.
