Welcome to the Ashbourne Group of churches.
We are a group of Anglican churches on the outskirts of the Peak District in Derbyshire, in what’s called the ‘benefice of Ashbourne’ which includes six churches:
St Oswald’s Ashbourne
St John’s in Ashbourne
St Mary’s in Mappleton
Holy Trinity in Clifton
St Mary & Barlok’s in Norbury
St Peter’s in Snelston
We link through the Deanery of Ashbourne, into the Diocese of Derby and the wider Church of England. We also work closely with other churches in Ashbourne through ACT (Ashbourne Churches Together).
We hope that our website will give you a flavour of who we are, what we believe and what you might find if you come and visit us.
St Oswald’s is the parish church for Ashbourne and is one of the most beautiful, and one of the most visited parish churches in England. For hundreds of years people have come to St Oswald’s church to worship God, seek answers to questions about life and faith, find comfort in times of trouble and celebrate all which is good. But St Oswald’s is more than just a beautiful and historic building; it’s the people that make up our church, a group of people who want to love and serve God.
We hope that you might find something of that love through some of our activities and events and by spending time with us.
Sometimes we get it right, but sometimes we don’t! But because we know God loves us with a passion and is ready to forgive us, we hopefully learn from our mistakes and move on. So if you are looking for a perfect church, with perfect people, you’d better keep looking! However, if you’d like to join us sometime, and explore who God is and what plans he has for all our lives, then we’d be delighted to see you. Why not come along to one of our services or events, or call the vicar/parish office and ask to speak to someone for a chat.
It might be that you are needing to speak to the vicar to arrange a funeral, wedding, or a baptism (or Christening). In that case you will find all the details on the contact us page.
Where are we? How to find us….
